The Challenge
In Sri Lanka, many of the community members we work with in rural coconut growing regions face financial barriers that prevent them from having access to quality education. This reduced access to education can limit the availability of higher paying jobs and reduce competition in the workplace.
Our Approach
We work with local partners to award scholarships to community members experiencing financial hardship. With the help of scholarships, students can focus more on their studies and increase their chances of attending competitive schools.
“This scholarship is a great help for me and my family. It allows me to focus on my studies with a relaxed mind without worrying about expenses,” shared scholarship recipient Uththara Madhubhashini.
Over time, students like Uththara will be able to join the workforce, earn extra income, and play a role in creating resilience in the coconut industry for generations to come.
